Gazillionth message for the day

I got to talk with my dad today. Man, I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear his voice. I’ve been learning lately how much it means to me to hear the voices of the people I love, especially my closest friends and family. I nearly teared up. I could literally feel my heart swelling with joy when I heard him tell me how proud he is of me. He said, I miss you so much [secret nickname], but my pride in what God is doing through you is a lot greater. *tearful grin* I wish so bad I could feel his bear hug (you know, the kind that only a dad can give.) *sigh*
I called him today because take your daughter to work day was this month. That has always been a very special day for my dad and I. He’d always plan the coolest work days. I’m so blessed to have the relationship I do with my dad.
He was also telling me about the great sermon our pastor gave about Eunice and Lois in Genesis, and the special duty mothers have in raising their daughters. Apparently the pastor pulled out a copy of the application my dad and his friends have for their daughters; Application To Date My Daughter. ha-ha. Lots of great memories in that application.
I love hearing my dad talk about the Bible and how great God is, it gets me so pumped up. He is such a wise man. I got off the phone and left for my meeting tonight feeling completely rejuvinated.
Also, when I called him he was still at work. Things have really been picking up back home. He was working on an arson case in an old house which is actually a historical building in San Francisco. As I listened to my dad describe the building I suddenly realized where I get my ability to describe things so colorfully. Check out this description he gave of an old man he was working with: “This guy was elderly, but not too old. His job seemed to age him more than time. He was bent over like he tucked his tie into his shoelaces.”
Ha-ha. So amazing. Anyway, as he was telling me about the job, he was also keeping an eye on my brother, who was learning how to drive the fork lift they just got for the warehouse. “Hey Sar, you’ll never guess what I got you for your graduation. A brand new Cat fork lift! I knew you’d love it!”
Apparently while I was talking with my dad my brother ran the fork prongs through the side of our neighbor’s warehouse. Ha-ha! oops. I can’t wait to hear what developes from that. I’ll have to call my brother tomorrow. I’ll have to tell him to be careful driving my forklift, he’s already crashed my car once…but to mess with the forklift is crossing the line. I haven’t even gotten to drive it yet! 🙂

Tired…Recluse

Yes, I’m tired and I’m reclusive. I’ve tried to break out of these trends, but what can ya do? Right.

I can hardly remember Friday except that I saw that movie with the good soundtrack. Saturday, I went to work, went out to tacos with Dave and we also stopped by the Tweetery where these parrots and feathered friends were flying all over the place and like to nibble on ears. This made me a bit uncomfortable. Also this bird salesman kept trying to sell me this kinda ugly looking bird that has a “very bad birdy attitude, but is a cuddle bird too.” His name was Beemer (the bird). Apparently he’d gotten in fights with the other birds and broke his beak and lost a toe. He was a gray bird that looked like he’d had a cup of blue cool-aid poured over his head. Anyway, that was an interesting trip. Dave got some nesting material for his “overly-involved” finches. “They are the busiest little birds I’ve ever seen,” he told me. And I asked, “Well, jeez, why on earth would you be watching!”
Earlier that day I got to work a little bit late and Dave made me wear a name tag that said “I’m in Time Out.” I got plenty of wonderful comments and interesting looks from customers. Also, Dave set up a little scavenger hunt because he had a gift for me. I followed the trail of his notes that were hidden all over the store; from the register (where I started) to the Star Wars display, to the vacuum closet, to the break room, etc. It was a wonderful treat! I love things like that, especially when they’re put together so well. Anyway, my search ended in the break room where he’d hidden four tapes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the microwave. haha.
I called Kyle later that night to watch one with me and drink cheap hot coco. Miranda was busy studying. sad.

Oh, and before Kyle came over, Alex stopped by. He’d gotten some pictures and names and numbers of people who were at the canal when a fire broke out. It’s great that he happened to be on the scene and had his wits about him to get all the necessary info. It’ll be a great story for The Falcon.
After that, my radio shows came on and I was able to postpone my homework some more.

So now it’s Sunday. I over slept and missed church. I think I’m going to try and go to compline tonight or hitch a ride to someone’s evening service.
I called my mom today and my grandma to wish them a happy Mother’s Day. It’s hard talking to my mom sometimes. I always get off the phone feeling overly-anxious, like there are a million things to get done and I’m way behind and the world is going to end if I don’t get everything done ASAP. I suppose that just comes from the fact that my mom is Wonder Woman and always a couple steps ahead of the game.

I woke up this morning really wanting to play tennis. In fact, I fell asleep last night thinking about it and hitting serves in my head. It’s that time of year and I’m having withdrawals. I called Loreanne because she was the first person I thought of when I ran through a list of potential partners to play. I think I’m going to go to the courts and hit a few serves tonight. I hope they have court lights.

Next on the list of events for the day: small group.

Kingdom of Heaven

I saw Kingdom of Heaven tonight. It was okay…but it was no Gladiator. One thing I will say though is that the soundtrack is going to be amazing. I loved the music.

In other news: I went and checked out the recycling program at Seattle University today. Ohmygosh, they have such an amazing system. They even have their own composting! (Apparently they’ve won awards for their incredible compost.) I was impressed. I’m anxious to go back and interview more people.

Remember friends: Jesus loves Recycling!

Also today I went to a meeting held for SPU employees to come and respond to the changes that were made about their benefits. I guess not many of them really cared because only about 9 people showed up. Sad. I guess part of that may have had to do with the fact that the meeting was held during work and class hours. Hmmmm…I don’t suppose the administration did this on purpose. Nawh, they would never do anything like that, that’s not Christian.

Red Mary Flint…Arrr

My pirate name is:
Red Mary Flint

Passion is a big part of your life, which makes sense for a pirate. Like the rock flint, you’re hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you’re easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Sunny day

Although I didn’t actually get it e-mailed until 5:40 this morning, I finally turned in the rough draft of my memoir. That was a huge weight off my chest. Good Lord that paper was a beast. And of course, it still has a lot of refining to endure.
Another cat (different than Tabby) walked into my apartment yesterday. She almost got away with it too! But I caught her and hauled her outside. Dang, the cats around this place are friendly. ha-ha.
The free download of the week on iTunes is pretty sweet.
I got my results back today in the mail from an IDAK Career Match test I took a while ago. It had some interesting results, along with telling me a lot that I already knew.
Also I took the Love Talk test for the Parrot’s adv. relationship development class. Also interesting. The test reveals your forms of love talk and also how your “partner” can best communicate with you (this also included a list of ways my “partner” shouldn’t talk to me – I thought that was pretty cool).

TO DO:
Recycling in-depth article
Employee benefits investigation
Nature essay
Keep eye out for roommates just in case cottage doesn’t come through
Eat something
Finish Bible study assignment
Pick up couch from Brigitte’s place
Do capstone homework for tomorrow
Take a nap, or sit and do nothing but pray for at least an hour today (while the sun is out)

Questions prefeced by a disclaimer

My professor e-mailed these to our class. Seeing as how I’m single and really have no intention of changing and that I really don’t have a desire to get to know any person of the male persuasion at a “meaningful level” (to determine if they’re “the one”) –I thought I’d post these for all the folks out there who are with someone and seeking to know them on a meaningful level. *cough*Loreanne*cough*Andrea*cough* So with that…I leave you to view the following at your leisure.

Sad…I missed the Popple’s come back!

http://www.toymania.com/news/messages/1306.shtml

I can remember being so in love with these guys!

Then this led me to remembering all the other cartoons and imaginary worlds I was in love with. I especially remember my Wuzzle birthday party with Bumblelion, Butterbear, Eleroo, Rhinokey, and Moosel. *sigh* Good times, good times.

Loreanne, do you remember Cherry Merry Muffin? She was like a Strawberry Shortcake wannabe. Haha. Oh and then there was He-Man and She-ra. She-ra kicked butt!

Remember these?
Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers
Captain Planet
Moncchichis
My Pet Monster
Alvin and the Chipmonks
Denver the last Dinosaur
Carebears
Ducktales
The Get-a-long Gang
Gummiebears
Paw Paw Bears
The Raccoons (with that weird anteater-looking guy)
Rainbow Brite (the link below even has a cool techno remix of her theme song!)
Teddy Ruxpin

I could go on, but I won’t. I’ll let you check it all out for yourself. 🙂

There were so many short-lived cartoons in the 80’s. Man, I feel hecka old.
